The Photographer

“When words become unclear, I shall focus with photographs. When images become inadequate, I shall be content with silence.”
― Ansel Adams

The Story

Summer of the year 2013, I discovered a new passion. I discovered the secret reward that is framing your viewpoint, finding your vision, capturing the world’s art. I discovered photography. As a hobby, photography is not a simple task. Besides the heinous cost of equipment, the inclination to go out and capture shot after shot is not an inclination everybody feels. Our nature is idle and we are idle beings; for me, though, photography is idle. It is idle peace and it is idle pleasure. It is my satisfaction, and for me the point of life is satisfaction. We move through the day asking selfish questions, working boring jobs, and fulfilling never-ending obligation. And we do it. Willingly. We struggle through the tedious tasks of life for that moment of contentment. It is through photography that I find a certain part of that contentment.

The Vision

In consideration of my influences, I notice an interesting paradigm. See, influences shift, but inspiration is definite. Inspiration comes from within. It is a desire to do good, and it is spurred on by surrounding factors. For the duration of the photography featured on this, my principal surrounding factor has been my teacher and mentor, Nancy Diamond. Through her guidance, I came up with the principles and themes that are present in the current body of work. I delegate this period my Diamond Period, and all future work as post-Diamondism.

My intent is personal. I have no future nor a desire for a future in art. My work reflects my access to a darkroom, but as we move forth it can be expected that there will be a shift towards the digital. Yet, as the photography shifts, my purpose holds true: it is to entertain, be it only my personal entertainment.
